RONALD HENRY WATSON

Ronald Henry Watson of Savannah and Highlands, North Carolina, died peacefully at home Monday, July6, 2009.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Jacquelyn Porter Watson, sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Samuel Zemurray III, father-in-law Donald Porter, sisters-in-law Gail Key, Shirleen Porter, brother-in-law Frank Porter, nephews Joseph Emerson Brown Harper, Donald Ray Porter, Derek William Porter, Ryan Porter, niece Aaryn Key Tyndal and many cousins.
Born in Swainsboro, Mr. Watson, 58 was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lloyd Watson, Jr. and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lloyd Watson, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. John Benjamin Harrell.
He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and a Masters Degree in Accountancy. There he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, serving as social chairman.
A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, he followed his father into the accounting profession, first with his family firm in Swainsboro. Shortly after his father's death, he established his own firm, Watson and Associates in Savannah in 1981.
An avid sportsman, Mr. Watson spent many happy hours at his home in the North Carolina Mountains, where he operated a Christmas tree farm as a sideline, and at his farm in Metter, Georgia. He remained a lifelong member of the Swainsboro First United Methodist Church, and regularly attended the Metter United Methodist Church. A longtime fishing and boating enthusiast, he was a former member of the Savannah Yacht Club. Mr. Watson was devoted to music throughout his life, playing both the guitar and the banjo.
The family would like thank Dr. Steven Brower of the Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial Hospital, Dr. Mark Taylor of Summit Cancer Care, Dr. James Abbruzzese of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and Dr. Benjamin L. Watson of Southcoast Medical Group for their fine and caring treatment.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel, followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. with The Reverend Jimmy Towson of Macon officiating.
Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice Savannah or to the Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
